Have You Recharged Your Batteries Lately?
by Trish Pratt
In talking to a business-owner client recently, he mentioned that he was on vacation but was having a difficult time really being there. He was experiencing some pangs of guilt that weren't allowing him to fully relax. "There's a part of me that thinks I should be at the office" he said, "or that I should only take a vacation when my business is really doing well." Though basic needs such as having a roof over one's head, paying the bills, etc. must come before "wants," it can be helpful to look at the importance of vacations or "relax times" and the role they play in the success of our businesses and lives.
In working with clients on building their picture of success, the results of bringing true self-connection to their business is very powerful. Whether looking at bringing the best of yourself to your business or personal life, it is important to bring who you are, a strong connection to what is most important to you and a clear sense of purpose. When we bring this best, we are present, energized, focused and sometimes simply unstoppable.
And so it is important to feed the source of this energy and focus. When you are depleted or low on energy, how can you bring your best to your business, your family, or yourself? For the employees or loved ones that count on you to play the role that you are called upon to play, how can you give when you haven't gotten what you need for yourself? And so consider this: when you don't do what you need to do to recharge your energy source, you shortchange the world. And the world is calling us all to be our best.
Wishing you a relaxing and energizing summer!
