Drive/Push Management Pattern

Case Study by Trish Pratt

Issue

A director of a large company had been finding it more and more difficult to relax. He was frustrated by what he perceived as a lack of real recognition from his boss, and felt that he was on a treadmill of success that was defined by a continual increase in sales goal numbers. Compounding the situation, his management team was complaining about his "over-the-top" tactics in his communications with them. This director's frustration and "drive/push" management style were not only affecting the attitude and motivation of his team but were in the way of his ability to lead his organization successfully.
